The temple is placed such that it overlooks the River Tawi and is opposite the Bahu Fort. The temple is located in a scenic place and the surroundings are picturesque. Opposite to Bahu Fort in Jammu is the Mahamaya temple. The temple overlooks the River Tawi. The surroundings of the place are such that it makes the temple a scenic place. The picturesque forests are an eye-soothing experience. About fourteen centuries ago a legendry woman (Dogra heroine) opposed the invaders and valiantly confronted them. The temple is dedicated to the same lady. The fact that the lady was not a Hindu goddess but a heroine makes this temple different from the others. People honour her sacrifice and eulogise her. Though it is not a major place of worship, but it attracts tourists in large numbers. |
