Nagbal is located in the anantnag town in the east corner.Nagbal has two beatiful springs which orginates from foot of a small hill lock. These springs are dedicated to Lord Vishnu.There are also two sulphur springs in the nagbal anantnag complex, the skin disease patients get curied by taking a dip in the spring. A Guruwara is also in the same complex. Nagbal Temple is a shrine on the left side of the holy spring at Nagbal in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir. Located in the eastern corner of the Anantnag town, this temple is adjacent to a tank. There are long shady chinnars which stand guard round the tank. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Ananta Bhagvan, installed at the outlet of the spring.

 

This temple was erected during the reign of Maharaja Rambir Singh, the second Dogra ruler of Kashmir. There are other small temples in the Nagbal complex. Shivaji temple, the oldest temple, was built during the reign of Maharaja Partap Singh. Another attraction here is a Gurdwara. A sulphur spring, which is considered to have spiritual powers, is nearby.

Nagbal can be accessed from Anantnag by local transport. The historic town of Anantnag is 65 km north of Srinagar – the capital city of Jammu and Kashmir. The nearest airport is Srinagar Airport. The entire complex is known popularly as Nagabal and is famous Hindu religious center in Anantnag District. It is situated in the east corner of the town. The holy spring which originates from here and the formation of which is attributed to Vishno or Narayana is said to be a Vedic ‘tirath’. The spring rises beautifully from the foot of a small hill-lock and is dedicated to the worship of Ananta or Vishno.

The Nagbal Temple is actually in the eastern corner of the Anantnag town, placed adjacent to a tank. There are long shady chinnar trees that stand sentinel round the tank. The presiding deity of the Nagbal temple is Lord Ananta Bhagwan, set up at the outlet of the spring. The temple was built by Maharaja Ranbir Singh, the 2nd Dogra ruler of Kashmir.
